Lancaster Royal Grammar School

Lancaster Royal Grammar School has close links with the Duchy of Lancaster. These date from Queen Victoria’s interest in the school when she helped finance the move of the school from near Lancaster Castle to its present site in 1852. It is now a grant-maintained state school.

The Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster appoints a Duchy Foundation Governor for a four-year term (renewable) and a First Nominated Trustee for a similar period. The same individual undertakes both appointments.

Lancaster Royal Grammar School also receives a charitable annuity and the school administers a Duchy Bursary Fund supported by the Duchy of Lancaster Benevolent Fund.
