The Duchy of Lancaster’s ancient foreshore runs from the River Mersey in the south to Barrow-in-Furness in the north and consists predominantly of the land between mean high tide and mean low tide. It includes around 100 lettings for a variety of uses, from sheep farming to renewable energy infrastructure and bridges. The Duchy also owns some Foreshore in Wales and Eastern England
Minerals
The Duchy has a mineral portfolio which extends from South Wales to North Yorkshire. It consists of limestone quarries, which supply material to the UK construction sector, a mine supplying gypsum to the cement industry and an interest in a polyhalite mine. In addition to these ongoing operations, the Duchy holds both freehold and manorial mineral interests beneath its historic land holdings.
