Alastair Martin and Alistair Elliott Appointed To Duchy Council

Mr. Alastair Martin FRICS and Mr. Alistair Elliott BSc FRICS have been appointed by His Majesty King Charles III as non-executive members of the Council of the Duchy of Lancaster with effect from 3rd January 2023 and 1st February 2023, respectively.

Alastair Martin FRICS has served in his current role as Secretary and Keeper of the Records of The Duchy of Cornwall since 2013. For nearly a decade, he has worked closely with King Charles III to deliver sustainable land management practices, protecting and enhancing the biodiversity of the natural environment, providing active support for rural communities and enhancing the rural landscape for future generations. During his tenure, he has also been responsible for some of the country’s most successful community developments and planning successes. He was previously a partner at Carter Jonas, specialising in the management of rural and mixed property portfolios across England and Wales.

Alistair Elliott was formerly Senior Partner and Chair of the Executive Board at Knight Frank. Alistair spent 38 years at Knight Frank where he began his career working in the office sector before expanding his portfolio of clients to include logistics and industrial, hotels and healthcare. An equity partner since 1995, Alistair was made Head of the commercial business in the UK in 2006 and in 2013 became Senior Partner and Group Chairman. He spent nine years in this latter role, overseeing the Group’s global strategy across a network of more than 16,000 people in over 380 offices across the world.

The Duchy Council is responsible to the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster for the day-to-day running and strategic direction of the Duchy’s business affairs. Appointments to the Council are made by The King on the recommendation of the Chancellor and those appointed are invited to serve for an initial three-year term.
