Closing date for affordable homes’ applications approaches
Applications for Dunsop Bridge scheme to be received by 17th February
Ribble Valley Homes is urging anybody interested in new, affordable housing in Dunsop Bridge to contact them by 17th February 2012 to ensure they don’t miss out on a potential new home.
With demand high, interviews are already underway for the 12, three-bedroom properties which are due for completion in early April this year. Each of the houses has two bathrooms, a private garden and plenty of space for up to five people making them ideal for families.
The scheme has been developed by the Duke of Lancaster Housing Trust which was set up by the Duchy of Lancaster to invest in affordable, residential accommodation.
The scheme was supported by Ribble Valley Borough Council and the Trust has appointed Ribble Valley Homes to manage the properties.
Christine Grimshaw, managing director of Ribble Valley Homes, said: “These homes meet the huge need for high quality and affordable properties in this area, so there’s been lots of interest and enquiries. We don’t want anyone to miss out on this fantastic opportunity so it’s vital that any interested parties get in touch before 17th February.
“Although we are prioritising people that live in the Bowland Forest Higher, the scheme is also open to those that live or work in the adjoining parishes as well as those that used to live in the area but had to leave because of a lack of suitable accommodation. Families that need the space and can’t afford to rent or buy in the current market will also be considered.”
Located on two sites identified as part of a community consultation exercise in 2008, the properties are being built to Level 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes, the national Lifetime Homes Standard and using traditional materials such as natural slate and local sandstone.
Stuart Hirst, chairman of Ribble Valley Borough Council’s health and housing committee, added: “We are delighted to have supported this excellent development, which we see as an important part of our continuing commitment to the provision of affordable housing for the people of Ribble Valley.”
Any prospective tenant wishing to register their interest in the proposed homes, should contact Ribble Valley Homes on 0800 1114448 or call into its offices at De Lacey House, Station Road, Clitheroe.
