The Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster used to appoint a Duchy member to the Lancaster University Council for a five year term.  However, with a change in the Governance the Duchy lost its right to appoint a member to Council.  The Clerk of the Council to the Duchy of Lancaster remains a member of the Lancaster University Court and the Duchy has a right to appoint one other member of the Court.
