Liverpool Philharmonic Hall In Final Funding Push

Love Music campaign to aims to raise £1million for the venue refurbishment in 2014

The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic has launched a campaign to raise the final £1million it needs to undertake the much anticipated £12 million refurbishment of Liverpool Philharmonic Hall in Spring this year.

The Grade II* listed Liverpool Philharmonic Hall is home of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and one of the UK’s premier arts and entertainment venues.

Having raised more than 90 percent of the funding target with pledges from Arts Council England, Liverpool City Council, a number of Trusts and Foundations and through the generosity of private donors, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic has launched, Love Music The Campaign for the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic to realise the final £1million funds required to complete the refurbishment.

The Duchy of Lancaster  has donated £5000 from its Benevolent Fund. Created in 1993, the Duchy of Lancaster Benevolent Fund is a registered charity set up with the consent of Her Majesty The Queen to benefit charitable causes in the counties of Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Merseyside.

Dame Lorna Muirhead, the Lord Lieutenant of Merseyside and long-time supporter of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, said: “Liverpool Philharmonic Hall is a long standing attraction for the city and it is wonderful that the Duchy of Lancaster can recognise and support the worthy cause.”

Michael Eakin, chief executive of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic said: “We are immensely grateful to Dame Lorna Muirhead and the Duchy of Lancaster for the generous donation and ongoing support of our organisation. I am confident that with the support of the Duchy of Lancaster along with others who have already given so generously, we will be able to achieve our ambition for the refurbishment of Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, ensuring that the building remains a beautiful, relevant and central part of Liverpool’s cultural and community life.”

The ambitious project will ensure the best possible experience when visiting the Hall for musicians, artists and audiences alike.  Improvements will be made to all the public spaces at front of house including lift access to all parts of the auditorium; and backstage, the quality of facilities for musicians, artists and concert production will be transformed. The refurbishment also includes the building of an exciting new performance space that will be used to present a range of smaller-scale concerts, learning events, and other activities.
